Our advice is to purchase your ski pass from the ski kiosks next to the tourist office in the morning of your first day of skiing. There does not seem to be any way of getting any discount by buying in advance. in summary…
Buy your pass on the first day of skiing (or the evening before) from the tourist office
- it is the same price as online (comment below if this is not correct)
- just in case you are delayed travelling and can’t ski on the first day
- just in case high winds mean nearly all the lifts are closed
- just in case someone in your party is ill
- claiming insurance on missed skiing is a hassle and probably not worth it
- it is easier to see the options (Meribel-Mottaret only – beginners pass – family pass – three valley pass etc) when you are in resort
Buy your pass online
- they can post it to you if you purchase it in advance (not sure about this option)
- you save precious moments on that first day of skiing by collecting your passes (but I have heard of problems with this)
- you have a rechargeable pass from last year that you can recharge online (this will definitely save time) and you have a record of the purchase
- avoid possible disaster if your card doesn’t work when buying in resort
